On the final day of the 35th Tehran International Book Fair, the Iran Public Libraries Foundation hosted an event called “Introducing Iran’s Children’s Books Globally.” Maryam Ronagh, the director of Saba Agency, participated as a panelist. She discussed how literary agencies can help introduce Iran’s children’s books to the global market.

During the meeting, Maryam Ronagh, the director of the Saba Agency, highlighted that there is a shortage of literary agencies specializing in children’s books. She explained that entering the children and young adult book publishing field is quite challenging, and aspiring individuals need to first study the art of children’s book publishing.
Ronagh also outlined the key factors for successfully introducing a book to the international market: (1) understanding the foreign market, (2) ensuring high-quality content and illustrations from the domestic publisher, and (3) awards granted to the books, among other aspects. Additionally, she stressed the importance of a comprehensive catalog containing all the necessary information about a book as a key tool.
In the end, she stated:
Foreign relations should be conducted in a more casual, friendly, and agalie manner, and thus can be better managed by the private sector. However, in the initial stages, government grants for translation and publication serve as an incentive for foreign publishers.
