On Thursday, April 10, 2025, a meeting took place as a delegation from Iraq visited the Cultural Association of Children and Youth Book Publishers (CACBP) in Iran. This visit was part of Iraq’s preparations as the guest of honor at the upcoming 36th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF 2025).
The delegation comprised important representatives from Iraq’s Publishers’ Union, the Ministry of Culture, and various publishers specializing in Children’s and Young Adult literature. The discussions focused on shared interests in children’s literature and laid the groundwork for future collaboration, beginning with TIBF 2025.
Both parties share rich cultural similarities, fostering a mutual interest in collaboration. There was a clear enthusiasm for enhancing future partnerships, with plans to translate titles between Persian and Arabic, facilitating a greater literary exchange. Additionally, Iraqi publishers expressed interest in collaborating with Iranian illustrators, seeking quality work at reasonable prices.
The CACBP Board of Directors proposed the idea of educational workshops, aiming to provide educators and publishers with valuable insights and skills. Furthermore, invitations were extended to Iraqi children’s book publishers to participate in the inaugural Tehran Fellowship Program, scheduled to take place from May 12-15, 2025, alongside TIBF 2025.
The 36th Tehran International Book Fair will be held from May 7-17, 2025.
